Is Fido the worst road-trip navigator because he’s too busy gnawing on his paws or tail?
Does Fluffy scratch up the furniture when you leave the house?
An anxious pet is no walk in the (off-leash) park.
If your pet is high-strung, you’ve probably tried just about everything to get them to calm down – 5 hour walks, Play dates, compression vests, maybe even prescription benzodiazepines (a.k.a., doggy Xanax).
Which type of CBD product should you use?
So now you’ve made the decision to try CBD for your pets, but you’re not sure which CBD product to choose. We suggest CBD that’s either ingested or taken sublingually. In layman’s terms: edibles, oils, and/or tinctures.
CBD Edibles for pets are best given that they release a consistent serving of CBD slowly. Consider giving them a CBD treat daily. Sometimes CBD’s tranquilizing effects are increased over time – as in, they work better when CBD is administered regularly and consistently.
Another advantage for CBD edibles for pets is that they’re almost fool-proof to give to your pets – with delicious flavors like bacon, peanut butter and banana, or cheese, you won’t have to trick your fur baby to take ‘em, leave the tricks for them.
CBD oils and tinctures for pets are absorbed into the bloodstream more quickly than edibles. They also have a higher bioavailability, meaning more of the active ingredient makes it into the bloodstream.
One thing to be aware of when giving your pet CBD oils or tinctures: sometimes, the dropper used to dispense the oil is made of glass. In that case, you need to be super careful when administering – so that your pet doesn’t bite down and break the glass! A plastic dropper carries no risk of shattering.
Summer is for road trips. To a resort, to visit family, or just somewhere relaxing to soak up the sunshine. That means packing, loading up the car, and getting your beach outfits ready. For us pet owners, it means figuring out what to do with our beloved fur babies.
Sure, you can board your pet while you’re away. But finding a friend to dog-or-cat-sit can be difficult, and kennels can be prohibitively expensive, and they don’t bode well for pets with anxiety. Plus – doesn’t Fido deserve to take part in the family vacation, too?
The biggest challenge when bringing your pet on vacation with you is keeping them calm in the car. My childhood Black Lab, Brittany, used to cry, pant, & whine the whole drive. Sometimes she would get so worked up she would have an accident or regurgitate in the backseat… even if we were just going to the grocery store ten minutes away; much less on a five-hour road trip!
The whole point of vacation is to relax.
CBD Products for Pets
You might have heard that many people sing CBD’s praises, But it’s not just for people; your pets have an endocannabinoid system just like you do.
That means CBD products for your pets can help them enjoy the same benefits reported by people who use CBD.
CBD products for dogs and cats work in the same way as in our human bodies. The ingredients are the same. The effects are the same. The biggest difference? We don’t carry salmon-flavored oils for humans (yet). Since all our products are lab-tested (the science kind of lab, not the retriever kind) to ensure they adhere to our sky-high standards, they’re just as safe for you as they are for your loving pet.
The endocannabinoid system is the system in our bodies in which cannabinoids like CBD are produced and digested. It’s closely linked to the regulation of homeostasis in your body – that means its job is to help restore your body to a state of normalcy. The irregularity we are recovering from might be an inflamed muscle, or it might be the triggering of your fight-or-flight response due to anxiety. Either way, the endocannabinoid system works hard to get you back to normal. CBD products just help it work a little harder. Because dogs and cats (and bunnies, mice, goats, horses, ect) have the same endocannabinoid system that we do, they can enjoy the same effects reported by human users of CBD.
Which CBD product is right for my pet?
From regular flavors of CBD oils to peanut-butter-banana dog treats, Pet parents now have a myriad of options for their pet(s). In terms of the product strength, as with humans, it’s recommended to start low. From there, you can gradually increase the amount of active CBD until the desired effect is achieved.
When choosing between Pet CBD oils, or tinctures, only you know best what your pet will or won’t be interested in. If they’re picky about treats, consider adding oil or tincture to their food or water. If they’re a peanut butter fiend, try Petleaf Dog Treats.
All of our CBD products for pets are extensively tested for contaminants, heavy metals, solvents, and anything else that could be dangerous for both humans and pets. If it doesn’t pass our rigorous testing, we don’t sell it—period.
On that note, We wish you a peaceful ride for the whole family, including your pets.
